Jim Fogarty started his career in Philadelphia working with a wide variety of Pop, Blues, Rock, Country, and Folk groups.


In 1987, Jim began seriously writing, touring worldwide and recording in the popular folk duo, The SoulMates, with wife Lindsay Gilmour.


In recent years, he has performed at festivals, nightclubs and folk venues across the US, including prestigious local venues such as the Wachovia (Wells Fargo) Center, Spectrum, Theater of Living Arts, Philly Folk Festival, WXPN World Cafe, Penns Landing, Appel Farm Festival, Bridgeton Folk Festival, Tin Angel, Painted Bride as well as the Bottom Line, Bitter End and Rodeo Bar (NYC ) and numerous TV, Radio and Film appearances.


Jim is an in-demand session guitarist, producer and accompanist, providing live and studio backing for international folk-rocker Iain Matthews, Philadelphia legend Kenn Kweder, progressive rockers Happy Rhodes and Bon Lozaga, country artist Patsy Foster, Singer/Songwriter Adrienne Young, Western Swing mavens Beats Walkin', and Violinist Caryn Lin, among others. Onstage, Jim has had the pleasure of performing with Richard Thompson, DieselBilly King Bill Kirchen, Ralph Stanley, Country Artists David Ball and Wayne Hancock, Folk-Rocker Julian Dawson, John McCuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Townes Van Zandt, George Porter (The Meters),  Big Sandy and more.


In addition to his popular solo act, Jim currently performs with his own Roots/Rock band The ToneBenders, Jump Blues icons Melissa Martin and the Mighty Rhythm Kings, and a variety of duos and ensembles around the Philadelphia area.
